From Freedom to Foundation: The Bhowmik Legacy
The Legacy of Rebati Ranjan & Krishna Sundar Bhowmik
Rebati Ranjan Bhowmik born in July 1915 in Hasnabad (now part of Bangladesh), became a freedom fighter at just 13, deeply influenced by his father, Krishna Sundar Bhowmik, a leading figure in the peasant protests of the early 1930s. Together, they led the Kisan Jagaran Samiti, organizing farmers in non-violent defiance of colonial taxes. Despite police brutality and arrests, Rebati Ranjan persevered, dedicating his life post-Independence to rural healthcare, literacy, and dignity.
